The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for entry-level Deputy Sheriff. Eligible candidates must be a United States Citizen between the ages of 18 and 45, holding a valid High School Diploma or GED, and not be convicted of a Domestic Violence or Felony level crime. Additionally, when hired, each Deputy Sheriff must reside inside Monroe County. Benefits included, but not limited to are a retirement plan, optional medical, dental and eye insurance, along with paid vacation and / or holidays as well as paid sick leave. Paid overtime opportunities and a take-home car program also exist. Applications may be picked up at the Monroe County Sheriff's Office inside the Monroe Courthouse in Union. Where applicable, West Virginia Certified Police Officers and Veteran's preference points will be awarded on the Written Examination after achieving a 70% passing score. Each applicant must also successfully pass the Physical Ability Examination as prescribed by the West Virginia Governor's Committee on Crime, Delinquency and Correction- Law Enforcement Professional Standards.
